Why Read Our Blogs on R&G Brenner

by manager

Many different businesses run their own blogs today as this serves as an easy and inexpensive way to keep their customers informed about new develops that should be of interest to them. our blog at the website of R&G Brenner  – www.rgbrenner.com/blog/ – is no different in this respect. However, unlike many blogs that focus exclusively on their business and promotions, out blog relates lots of more general information about the tax situation, both at the federal scale as well as the state level. As a new York-based company, it can come as no surprise that many of our blogs relate to information that specifically applies to New Yorkers and New Englanders in general.

As a prime example of the specialized information presented on the R&G Brenner blog, one recent blog – March 22, 2010 – relates to new measures being implemented by New York (and Connecticut) to tax non-residents doing business in their respective states. Although there have been laws on the books permitting many states to tax visitors for a long time, it was usually only applied to wealthy athletes and celebrities; however now there is enough information publicly available to begin applying these laws to other people that temporarily visit New York for business. This is the kind of important new development that is mentioned and discussed in some detail on the R&G Brenner blog.

Of course most people that require help with their taxes are much more concerned about federal taxes than they are state ones. Therefore, it can come as no surprise that our blog also discusses things about the federal tax situation: both basic facts that taxpayers may find interesting as well as useful new information about specific topics. As an example, a March 13, 2010 blog points out the fact that the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) routinely audits more wealthy people. The logic of this makes sense because they are more likely to collect large enough sums to justify the expense of the audit from wealthier taxpayers. This is something that many R&G Brenner clients should be aware of, even though it is not immediately actionable information.

Other blogs presented on the R&G Brenner website simply provide basic tax tips and advice that is more designed for outside readers as opposed to regular clients. Most of our regular clients already know this information and have R&G Brenner taking care of it for them; however other taxpayers may not be aware of these basic tips and information and may find it helpful. An example of this type of blog is the March 2, 2010 blog that discusses possible strategies to maximize your annual tax return. Needless to say, standing R&G Brenner clients already receive this information from their preparer, but it may be new and useful to other people.

Our R&G Brenner blog also covers some major headlines with the tax preparation industry. This is meant more for other tax professionals, but may also help some potential customers make a more informed choice about which tax preparation company they should choose to handle their taxes. Examples of this type of blog include the February 1, 2010 blog about a lawsuit being filed against a major national tax preparation firm and another blog about the loss of funding to another major national tax preparation company.
